May 19 , 2007. We look at the best Spider-Man games.

There's been alot of Spider-Man games covering every console ever made. Most of them are really bad, but there's a few great ones. And what separates the bad from the great? If you feel like you are Spider-Man while playing the game, that's great. If not, the game really doesn't draw you in or maybe it's a handheld. We don't care about those. So instead of listing every awful Spider-Man game ever released, we'll list just the ones you should buy.

Maximum Carnage

This is Spider-Man Maximum Carnage. It's one of those old school beatem-ups you probably played as a kid. But if you didn't we suggest getting it. The gameplay is great, and Spider-Man can use web moves. Not to mention the sprites are huge. Hope this arrives on Xbox Live soon cause it's only for the SNES/Genesis. Yikes!

Separation Anxiety

After the commercial hit of Maximum Carnage, Akklaim decided to release Separation Anxiety. This time, you can play as Venom, which was cool. He was a little stronger than Spidey. And together, you had to fight Carnage. Hope this is on Xbox Live too someday.

Spider-Man PSX

The first time you really felt like you're Spider-Man was on the PSX. Not only was this Spider-Man in 3D, but he was fast, agile, could climb walls, and could use his webbing as weapons. It was great! And it was the first to introduce the camera, which would haunt Spider-Man all through his future games.

After the sucess of Spider-Man 1, Activision decided to release Spider-Man 2 for the PSX. The reviews were not as favorable because they didn't fix the camera issues and didn't really give him anything new. But you fought more bad guys and had a better sense of being Spider-Man than in the first game.

Spider-Man The Movie

Finally, we get to an Xbox game and it's a great one. Spider-Man the Movie was great on the Xbox. And unlike the PS2 version, the city in the Xbox version was jaw dropping.

Spider-Man The Movie 2

And of course, they followed it up with a sequel that got lower scores because of camera issues. The graphics were slightly better than the first one and you had more bosses to beat. See the pattern?

Spider-Man 3

This brings us to the last Spider-Man game, Spider-Man 3. The formula has been refined so that you know exactly what to expect. It's still fun though.

Now you may be wondering why we skipped Ultimate Spider-Man, other games featuring Spider-Man as a secondary character, or handhelds. But you see, we just went over games where you feel like you're playing as Spider-Man. Not games you just play as Spider-Man. There's like a hundred of those.
