July 26th, 2008. Final Fantasy comes to the Xbox.

It's been a long time coming, but thanks to the efforts of Microsoft and failure of the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII is coming to the 360. Should you care? Is it even a good game?

The Final Fantasy series has become somewhat of a genre onto themselves. Yes, the save the world story has been done to death along with the techno-magical world where the characters in this game exist. The most obnoxious element of FF is still alive, which is the overuse of movie CGIs to tell the story instead of the graphics engine.

But what we've always liked about Final Fantasy is the character dialogue, which has been imitated over and over, but never as good as in a Final Fantasy game. This woman is the main character, and according to the developers, is a female version of Cloud Strife. Which means we're not going to see her in a bikini anytime soon like Final Fantasy Spirits.

The battle system is still time based. We hear you can queue up the battle commands and execute them, but basically, it's still a whole lot of watching with a few timed buttons for extra damage.

You can perform the poweful summons like in previous Final Fantasy games. The monsters have been redefined, but their names and abilities are still the same. Shiva casts ice and Ifrit uses fire.

The world of Final Fantasy will be even more breathtaking than before. But it should be noted that most of these environments are hand painted just like in previous games.

There's also the great orchestral soundtrack that few in the gaming industry can match. With a girl as the lead, we can finally say goodbye to the teenage angst that has dominated this series. We're hoping for a great Final Fantasy and will definitely do a review when it comes out.
