Nov 10, 2007. Possible FPS games besides WWII.
Now that developers are getting off the WWII bandwagon, maybe they can come up with their own ideas, and maybe they can get off the goddamn alien invades Earth bandwagon while we're at it. But let's get back to the other wars that can be made into games.

No doubt the Vietnam War would make a great game, and a few old Xbox games already cover this era. But not one 360 game is based off Vietnam. The 360 has the graphics power to make the Vietnam War almost as realistic as the real thing, and just as intense.

The Korean War was a nightmare in terms of human rights. However, no FPS has ever handled the Korean War. Why? The war featured close combat in cities and would make a great FPS. The final rush by Chinese as the US tried to hold its ground along the 38th parallel would have been an incredible scene in any FPS.

The Spanish American War featured great battles in forts, calvary charges, and bombardments by ships. All these elements would make an FPS that's completely different from the current ones on the market. Now we know that the old guns aren't very fun in terms of giving you that adrenaline rush that a machine gun gives you, but the old weapons require more skill.

There's two defining wars in American history. The first is the Revolutionary War, but we won't cover that because the weapons suck. But the other is the Civil War. The weapons used during the Civil War may not be great, but they are just as effective. There were ships, cannons, and horses. Kinda like the Spanish American War, but in terms of story and importance, the Civil War is the defining war of a young nation. It should be remembered and relived in FPS form. There's been plenty of tactical strategy games, but there definitely needs to be a few FPS so gamers can have a first hand view of such an important part of their legacy.
Like we said, we're not going to cover the Revolutionary War. Sorry President Washington. But we strongly believe that gamers of today should get to experience these other wars in an FPS. There's both gaming goodness and historical importance to these wars that make them worth the purchase. |
