Dec 15, 2007. Xbox 360, the next-gen gaming standard.
Yeah, it's been a great year for the 360. But the important thing is that the 360 had some major gaming events in 2007 that has greatly strengthened the Xbox line for the future.

There's no doubt, some major sequels finally appeared on the 360, but the most important one was definitely Halo 3, which is still the king of FPS games. Halo's excellent multiplayer has kept us busy for weeks and even the single player campaign is top notch.

2007 saw the introduction of the Japanese RPG to the Xbox family with Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata. We know many Xbox owners do not like the Japanese RPGs, but any serious console must have them to satisfy a significant and hardcore portion of the gaming crowd.

There were some serious first time hits for 2007 like Gears of War and BioShock. These new franchises will continue to grow and crank out great sequels (hopefully) and we hope that they will provide the 360 with great gaming moments.

The most important reason that the 360 will be the most successful console for 2008 are the previous Playstation 2 exclusives like Katamari, Armored Core, and even Earth Defense Force 2017. These types of niche games attract small groups of followers, but they greatly add to the diversity of the 360 gaming platform, which is lacking in the original Xbox.

More PC games appeared on the 360 like Command and Conquer and The Orange Box which has Half Life 2 and its expansion packs. These games strengthen the 360 lineup and may even bring in PC gamers tired of the ridiculous graphics card shuffle they have to go through every year and a half.

Games like Guitar Hero and Rockband helped show that the 360 was more than just a FPS machine. It could entertain just as well as the Wii. We hope to see more strange controllers in the Xbox 360 future.
The 360 has grown significantly over the past year, thanks to great first party titles, and even better third party titles that were once PS2 exclusives. We strongly believe that the combination of these games make the 360 the best console of 2007 and ensure a bright future for the Xbox family. |
