Beautiful Katamari Xbox 360 ReviewIf you've ever played this game before, it's pretty much the same game on the 360. If you're new to this game, be prepared one crazy game. It all starts with the King of the Cosmos, who is you're father. You're the Prince and your job is to do whatever your dad wants. And apparently, what he wants you to do is roll up stuff in your sticky ball so you can save the solar system which has been swallowed by a black hole cause by your dad playing tennis.

And that's basically the idea behind the game. You'll roll King and Queen of All Cosmosstuff up based on whatever requirements your dad wants, which could be by size, by time limit, or by how hot you can keep the ball if the ball is made out of fire. To make things truly bizarre, you'll get presents from the King and videos of your cosmic family acting like idiots. You'll also have a chance to meet your cousins along the way and roll them up, which unlocks them for play.

Beautiful KatamariRolling stuff up also unlocks them in a gallery where you'll get weird remarks as to what the object does according to the developers. You can only roll stuff up that's smaller than your ball. But as your ball gets bigger, you'll roll bigger stuff up until you're swallowing islands and even the clouds in your never ending struggle to fulfill your crazy dad's wishes.

In terms of graphics, the game looks like a PS2 game. Katamari 360Everything is a little smoother, but nothing that looked like it couldn't be done on a PS2 with some effort. Even the water looks awful. But everything fits the Katamari look, which has always been cartoonish. The music is as weird and eclectic as the stuff your dad makes you collect. The game does have a nice pastel palette which is very rare in any game.

Katamari has coop and online versus play, but it's very limited one-on-one battles to small areas of your game areas. The game keeps scores and gives you alot of info about how you're doing in the leaderboard. We do love Katamari, but this game is a little lacking. It's more of an update to the PS2 version, not a full blown new version for the 360. More development on the online mode would have improved the game greatly.
