Chromehounds Xbox 360 ReviewChromehounds was one of the first games released for the 360. You drive giant robots full of guns and missiles as you try to destroy other giant robots full of guns and missiles. If this sounds too familiar, well, what do you expect from videogames? It's like going to a burger place and not getting any fries. But what sets this game apart from so many others that have come before it?

Well, there is one very interesting twist. This game Chromehoundsconcentrates on multiplayer instead of the large single player campaigns found in other mech games. The single player game is more of a drive-by meching than anything else. We mean drive-by because you learn how to control your mech, blow stuff up, and then it ends. There really isn't much else in this game for single player.

Chromehounds ReviewGraphicwise, this game is pretty solid. The mechs are highly detailed and shiny. The ground textures are good, although in some spots, they look kind of dirty. The explosions are very big and powerful and your weapons look very realistic as you fire them. The only thing we found a little lacking is the environment, which is bland and lacks structures. The music is decent enough for this type of action game. It's got the militaristic score you would expect.

So what next? You can change one of the thousands of Chromehounds Onlineparts on your mech and go play multiplayer. But the mechs do not move very fast compared to other mech games. Multiplayer has the standard deathmatch and other modes, but the attention is on the Neroimus War, which is an online campaign where you and a few teammates go against two other factions in an all out battle royale game. You have to beat everybody and take their territory. There's a great deal of strategy and mech building for this online war.

If this was just a single player game with the usual online modes, this game would have scored very low. But the Neroimus War online play makes this title worth getting. There's so much strategy, mech building, and squad-based gameplay in this mode that it's worth the money to buy this game and find friends to play online. It's a solid title for online play. But if you don't play online, do not get this game because of the short single player.
