There were two great things about the original Civilization, it had more than one way to beat the game, and the ability to use your new found technologies to smite your enemies. Civilization Revolution keeps that idea alive. You can beat the game by
The gameplay is mainly on a 2D plane like Streetfighter, except the characters can fly and knock each other into across huge stretches of land. The combo system features one button press moves. Even the specials are one button attacks based on timing. There's a few story elements between certain characters during gameplay that relate to the anime. These story elements are used to power up certain characters during the story mode. Every Dragonball Z character and story is in the game. Some characters have multiple forms that need to be unlocked.
The graphics are very simple and clean like the anime. There are particle effects, but not great ones. We're talking PS2 quality graphics, except this game is in only available on nextgen consoles. Fans of the show will feel right at home with the grahics. The sound effects are straight from the TV show and the soundtrack is ripped straight from the arcades. Both are acceptable for a Dragonball game, but below average for 360 games.
There's story and versus mode as well as challenges. You need to unlock characters and special moves. There's also online matches and ranking, but no tournaments. The game is simple enough for kids or a coffee break game, but not much for anybody other than the Dragonball Z fans. The fighting lacks depth or any kind of excitement other than watching your character knock another character into a mountain range.
