You see, you're special forces. Your assignment is to hunt down some guy who has been spreading a technological virus around a Soviet nation called Lasria. The virus turns normal humans into crazy machine-like uncontrollable creatures. Of course, the guy you're after infects you with the virus. However, you don't become a mindless killing machine like the others. No. Your arm just turns into a weapon.

So naturally, you have to hunt down the guy that infected you and see if he has a cure. That's all the plot there is to this game. You spend the rest of the game just fighting and waiting for the ending since there's no natural progression into the story like other games. Your only job seems to be kill everything so you can go to the next level on your way to the ending. And on that way, you'll meet alot of infected insane metallic monsters that will want to rip you in half.

Dark Sector features plenty of guns, but you'll probably end up using your arm weapon the most. It's called the glaive, and it can be used to decaptitate enemies, solve puzzles, and even pick up items. Later in the game, you'll be able to control it to hit multiple targets or attack around corners. It's a very efficient and unique way to kill enemies and makes a big difference in the gameplay compared to the run and gun or shoot and hide games in other third person shooters.

Dark Sector is a good looking game with great textures and great environmental sound. The music is solid gaming music, but is ovepowered by the environmental sound. The characters look great, especially the monsters. You'll need skill and brains to beat them. The AI is decent enough to provide a challenge in single or multiplayer. It's a true next-gen title in terms of artwork and direction.

There's only two multiplayer modes that feature team matches. Unfortunately, only two teams can play five on five, with only one member of each team getting to play as the hero Hayden. So the multiplayer is a little lacking compared to other games. Dark Sector is a solid single player game, but the multiplayer won't last a long time. We still recommend it for the unique combat and great look.
